Lead Veterinary Technician
Rachel A.
After graduating with top honors and a bachelor's degree in marine biology from the University of Rhode Island, Rachel decided the veterinary field was her true calling. Having for about 8 years where her primary focus has been on surgery and anesthesia, Rachel had an unusual start to her veterinary career. First starting in large animal research at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by ICU and Emergency Care out in Cape Cod, MA. Within both jobs, she gained experience with severely critical patients and honed in on my nursing skills within the surgical field. Rachel and her family moved back home to Wisconsin a little over two years ago now, which is when she started at Southview as a Lead Surgical Technician. Southview nurtures a learning environment, has a great sense of camaraderie, and provides the most support she has ever felt in the veterinary field. Outside of Southview, Rachel focuses a lot of time on her family. Rachel has 2 beautiful daughters and an amazing husband. She also has 2 dogs, a golden retriever, and a black lab/American bulldog mix. When she has a spare moment to herself, Rachel loves to spend time at the gym, swim, and travel!
